Why “Good Enough” Is Actually Great

Don’t read on until you’ve taken 1:42 to watch the video above!

Financial advisors are wired for precision. You triple-check your numbers, ensure every financial plan is airtight, and take pride in delivering excellence to your clients – rightfully so!

But when it comes to video marketing, that same attention to detail can hold you back.

You tweak scripts endlessly. Adjust your lighting a hundred times. Delay posting because it’s not quite “perfect” yet.

Sound familiar? (You know it does!)

That’s analysis paralysis, and it’s stopping you from showing up, sharing your expertise, and connecting with your ideal audience.

Here’s the reality: Perfection isn’t just unnecessary—it’s counterproductive.

What a Gorilla Can Teach You About Video Marketing

**Make sure you’ve watched the full video above before reading on.**

Ever heard of the Invisible Gorilla experiment?

Psychologists Daniel Simons and Christopher Chabris asked participants to watch a video of people passing a basketball and count the number of passes.

Most people were so focused on counting… they completely missed the person in a gorilla suit walking right through the middle of the scene.

Be honest — did you see it?

The first time I saw this, I didn’t!

It proves that when we hyper-focus on one thing, we miss the bigger picture.

And that’s exactly what happens when you fixate on perfecting every tiny detail of your videos.

The Perfectionism Trap: What Are You Missing?

In video marketing, the “gorilla” you’re overlooking is the real opportunity:

📌 Building relationships with your audience
📌 Sharing valuable insights that position you as the expert
📌 Staying consistent so people remember you

When you obsess over tiny imperfections, you miss what really matters.

How to Break Free from Perfectionism and Start Creating Videos

Focus on the Message
What’s the one key takeaway your audience needs? Prioritize clarity over perfection. A perfectly lit, flawlessly edited video won’t matter if the content isn’t valuable.

Embrace Imperfection
A small flub in your delivery? A slightly shaky camera? No one cares. In fact, those little imperfections make you more relatable and human.

Done is Better Than Perfect
Posting consistent, “good enough” videos will always outperform waiting weeks (or months) for one “perfect” video.

Shift Your Focus
Instead of nitpicking every tiny flaw, ask yourself:

  • Did I deliver valuable content?
  • Am I showing up for my audience?
  • Is this helping me build trust with potential clients?

If the answer is yes—then it’s good enough. Hit post.

Perfection is Overrated. Connection is Everything.

The Invisible Gorilla experiment reminds us that we don’t need to see every detail to get the full picture.

And your videos? They don’t need to be flawless to be effective.

So, take a deep breath. Stop overthinking. Hit record. Share your message.

Your audience doesn’t need perfect. They need YOU.
